I’m happy to announce that my poem “The Image of a Sad Mind” has been published at Spillwords.
Many thanks to Editor Dagmara K. and the whole team at Spillwords for accepting my work for publishing.
The Image of a Sad Mind
I know the image of a sad mind
that a broken life gives,
I know:
it is what I saw on the face of a widow,
walking across the streets
begging, beset with gloom,
thinking of her youngsters, haggard and famished;
yet life has nothing but these:
act, and wait.
Iโve seen the image of a sad mind,
that grief and tragedy bring along,
…
…
I’d be glad if you go here, read and like/leave a comment. Thank you.
Congratulations Lamittan. Such a beautiful and moving poem.

All the best!
It is odd our traditions of death. So different. I remember reading that in the Victorian times the dead were often let lay on a table in the home. And silver coins placed on their eyes. And their were photo albums of the dead faces…
One can only hope that folks would help both widows and orphans. It is a true saddness when there is a young widow or widower left on their own.

Thank you. Why our societies honour the dead instead of the bereft is still a mystry. It’s a tough-bending culture that should be opened up for debates.

There are so many traditions. I had a relative who dismissed family tradition and donated his body to science before having what was left cremated. Anyone who donates organs… they are ‘golden’ to help the living.

That was super cool and kind of her to do. I’d effortlessly think that direction. Amazing kindness!
